Top Ten Books I Read in 2014

By now you all know there’s no way in creation I’m sticking to ten, right? Yeah. I did try to group them again to make it a bit easier. Also, I took out ones included on my “new to me” top ten list! 🙂

Favorite Series Enders:

Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor: I cannot believe this is over!! The whole series is perfection.

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo: What an ending! So glad we get more of this world in her next series!

Unmade by Sarah Rees Brennan: O_O Oy! So, so, so great. READ THIS SERIES!!!

Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers: How is each book in this series better than the last?!?!

Series Starters:

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkowski: For sure in my top three of the year!!!

The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson: I. Need. Book. Two.

Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke: Multiverse? Yes, please!

The Map to Everywhere by Carrie Ryan & John Parke Davis: FABULOUS middle grade adventure!!

Scarlet and Lady Thief by A.C. Gaughen: Robin Hood retelling? With a girl disguised as a boy? MINE!!!

In a Series:

Cress by Marissa Meyer: One of THE BEST series out there. So, so, so enjoyable.

The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater: Maggie is brilliant. And a little scary. Mostly brilliant.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas: How could I love this so much with so little Chaol? Am I really shipping Celaena with someone else?!?!

Waistcoats & Weaponry by Gail Carriger: So much fun! I’ll be sad to say goodbye to this one!

Stand Alone:

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart: I cannot even.

Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White: The most underrated book I read this year.

In the Shadows by Kiersten White & Jim Di Bartolo: LOVED how the text and art told the story!

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins: Just all of the happy sighs. One of my top books and the only one I’ve already re-read. Steph Perkins fangirl for life!

Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally: Please never stop writing these!!

Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay: Such a surprise!

Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson: Beautiful.

My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins: I want all of these stories to be a full novel!

2015:

The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkowski: HOW AM I GOING TO WAIT FOR BOOK THREE?!?!?!?

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black: I mean, Holly Black. ‘Nuf said!

All Fall Down by Ally Carter: Yes!!! Another Ally Carter series! This one combines everything I love about her other two series!!

I also loved The Winner’s Curse and can’t wait for The Winner’s Crime next year. It seems like it will be such a great trilogy! 😀 And, I’m currently reading Isla, but I put it on my list anyway because I know I’ll love it, lol.

  2. La Coccinelle

Someone else who’s read Brown Girl Dreaming! Yay! I really enjoyed that one, too; it made my top ten list.

I had Days of Blood & Starlight as well as Dreams of Gods & Monsters on my list because I read both of them in 2014 (and if I’d read the first book this year, it would’ve made my list, too).

  3. Kayla (The Bookish Owl)

I really enjoyed Dreams of Gods & Monsters though I must say, I liked the first two installments more. The Winner’s Curse and Isla and the Happily Ever After were my top 2014 reads too. Great list!

So many favorites! It’s so great when we fall in love with LOTS of books. I’ve only read a few of these though.

The Raven Cycle ( SO FREAKING GOOD! ) and Cress and Brown Girl Dreaming. All books that I LOVED.
