In the powerful conclusion to Robin LaFever's New York Times bestselling His Fair Assassins trilogy, Annith has watched her gifted sisters at the convent come and go, carrying out their dark dealings in the name of St. Mortain, patiently awaiting her own turn to serve Death. But her worst fears are realized when she discovers she is being groomed by the abbess as a Seeress, to be forever sequestered in the rock and stone womb of the convent. Feeling sorely betrayed, Annith decides to strike out on her own.

She has spent her whole life training to be an assassin. Just because the convent has changed its mind, doesn’t mean she has.

My Thoughts:

Pardon me while I have a fangirl moment:

THESE BOOKS!!! AHHHHHHHHH! They are just… I cannot even. I LOVE THEM! Grave Mercy was amazing. But then Dark Triumph came out and was even better. And now! Now, we have Mortal Heart and it may be my favorite of the three. How does Robin LaFevers do it?!?! So. Much. Love.

Okay, but for real. I am just so impressed by the His Fair Assassin books. First of all, the historical aspect! What a fascinating time and place. It’s clear that Robin LaFevers doesn’t mess around when it comes to research! The historical detail included really serves to make the story come alive. Yes, she has to take liberties with some things but that is what is so cool. I simply adore the way she weaves her story with the events and norms of the times.

And what a story it is. Everything about it draws me in. Amazing characters? Check. Mystery? Check. Betrayal? Check. Fascinating world building? Check. Romance? Check. Check! Check!!! These are big books and I just wanted them to go on and on and on.

Basically, you need to do yourself a favor and read Grave Mercy. This series is one of my all time favorites. I cannot wait to see what Robin LaFevers has in store for us next.
