Simon Snow is the worst chosen one who’s ever been chosen.

That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right.

Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he sets something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here—it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up.

Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story—but far, far more monsters.

My Thoughts:

I am such a huge fan of Fangirl. I listened to the audiobook and really loved the narration. I especially liked the Simon Snow bits at the beginnings of the chapters. Obviously I had to listen to Carry On as well. At least, I started it by listening. The narration is excellent and I highly recommend it. However, I was just too caught up in the story and couldn’t be patient enough to finish the audiobook. I had to grab my copy off my shelf and read it 🙂

I loved everything about this book. It was just so much fun to read. The characters, the setting, the magic… it was all exactly my kind of read.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a sucker for multiple narrators. I love seeing the same events through various viewpoints. That was especially true in Carry On. Simon and Baz (and Penelope and Agatha!) have totally different ways of looking at things. They only know their part of the story. This makes it so fun for the reader. The story is that much more developed and enjoyable.

And the Simon and Baz dynamic? Spot on! I love these two and their interactions. I can’t even pinpoint one or two things that I loved more. I just loved all of it! Baz forever.

I am so glad that Carry On is a book that exists in the world. I love it so much.
