From an impressive sisterhood of YA writers comes an edge-of-your-seat anthology of historical fiction and fantasy featuring a diverse array of daring heroines.
Criss-cross America — on dogsleds and ships, stagecoaches and trains — from pirate ships off the coast of the Carolinas to the peace, love, and protests of 1960s Chicago. Join fifteen of today’s most talented writers of young adult literature on a thrill ride through history with American girls charting their own course. They are monsters and mediums, bodyguards and barkeeps, screenwriters and schoolteachers, heiresses and hobos. They're making their own way in often-hostile lands, using every weapon in their arsenals, facing down murderers and marriage proposals. And they all have a story to tell.

My Thoughts:
When I heard that Jessica Spotswood was editing an anthology I knew I wanted to read it. I love her Cahill Witch Chronicles books. Then I heard all the stories would be about fierce ladies and take place throughout history and I was even more excited. And then I saw the author list! I knew this was a book I would have to own!
I tried to savor this one, only reading a couple stories at a time. That lasted for a day and then I just read them all without stopping! I enjoyed each and every story. It was so interesting to see the many varied characters and settings. I loved how unique this made each story.
When looking at the story list for this book I remember each and every story vividly. Usually when I read an anthology there are one or two stories that stick out and the rest blend together. So not the case here. I was invested in each and every one and cannot even begin to choose a favorite!
Basically, you should really check this one out. Each story is a delight. The only downfall? You’ll never want them to end!
