Following her pitch-perfect debut Open Road Summer, Emery Lord pens another gorgeous story of best friends, new love, & second chances.

Brimming with heartfelt relationships and authentic high-school dynamicsThe Start of Me and You proves that it’s never too late for second chances.

It’s been a year since it happened—when Paige Hancock’s first boyfriend died in an accident. After shutting out the world for two years, Paige is finally ready for a second chance at high school . . . and she has a plan. First: Get her old crush, Ryan Chase, to date her—the perfect way to convince everyone she’s back to normal. Next: Join a club—simple, it’s high school after all. But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max, moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!) her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to live?

My Thoughts:

Yep. Emery Lord is now an auto-buy author for me!!! I was taken in by Open Road Summer and now I’m hooked with The Start of Me and You! This was one of my favorite books of the year and I don’t see that changing!

I really love the characters that Emery Lord creates. They’re so complete and authentic! They feel like real people that I could run into on the street. I get so caught up in what they’re going through and where their story is going. I simply cannot put the books down!

And then there are the story lines… Emery Lord sure knows how to create a story I don’t want to leave. There is such complexity to what is going on. Like, there’s what’s going on on the surface but the nuances of the characters and the events make it so much more. I adore this. It’s totally engrossing!

The Start of Me and You was a book I didn’t want to leave! When I turned the last page I was tempted to start all over so I could spend more time with Paige, Max, Ryan, and the crew!
