My Thoughts:

I’ve been putting off writing this review in hopes that I would eventually figure out a coherent way to express my love. I now concede that it isn’t likely to happen. I’m actually pretty proud that I haven’t used an exclamation mark or caps yet. That ends now.

OHMYSTARS I love this book like, whoa!!!!!!!!! I cannot even. The sentences. I start them but then get distracted by another awesome aspect of the book I loved and end up with something like, “Celaena is just so and, oh goodness, MANON BLACKBEAK’s story, but then ROWAN comes in and ***sigh***Chaol….” At this point I’m staring into space replaying all my favorite parts in my head. Basically Sarah J. Maas broke me for writing reviews.

I think the main thing that I keep coming to is the amazing cast of characters. I mean, Celaena is tops, obvs. Everything about her is kickass. Without being too spoilery for previous books, Celaena’s life was twisted upside down. There is so much for her to deal with. Her life is in a state of major change. This already makes for a compelling story. But it doesn’t stop there. Maas introduces two of my new favorite characters… Rowan Whitethorn and Manon Blackbeak. Rowan is fae warrior. Trust me, you cannot wait to meet him! Manon is a member of the Blackbeak witch clan. At first I wasn’t sure about her story but I quickly found myself anticipating more chapters from her perspective. Since I loved the characters so much it was such a treat to get the various view points in Heir of Fire.

The one thing I wanted more of was Chaol since I’m such a fan of his! However, I totally understand why we don’t see as much of him. The story is stronger for it!

Really, I just cannot stress enough how very much I love these stories. Heir of Fire may be my favorite this far. Sarah J. Maas’ storytelling is superb. I love the world she’s created and simply cannot wait to see where she takes Celaena (and us!) next.
