Surprises abound and sparks ignite in the highly anticipated, utterly romantic companion to My Life Next Door

Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To:
- find the liquor cabinet blindfolded
- need a liver transplant
- drive his car into a house

Alice Garrett was The Girl Most Likely To:
- well, not date her little brother’s baggage-burdened best friend, for starters.

For Tim, it wouldn’t be smart to fall for Alice. For Alice, nothing could be scarier than falling for Tim. But Tim has never been known for making the smart choice, and Alice is starting to wonder if the “smart” choice is always the right one. When these two crash into each other, they crash hard.

Then the unexpected consequences of Tim’s wild days come back to shock him. He finds himself in a situation that isn’t all it appears to be, that he never could have predicted . . . but maybe should have.

And Alice is caught in the middle.

Told in Tim’s and Alice’s distinctive, disarming, entirely compelling voices, this return to the world of My Life Next Door is a story about failing first, trying again, and having to decide whether to risk it all once more.

My Thoughts:

super loved My Life Next Door back when I read it in 2012. I just loved getting to know the Garrett family. So, I was pumped when I heard Huntley Fitzpatrick’s next book would be a companion to it. More Garretts!! Also, more Tim! I loved how his character changed over the course of MLND so I couldn’t wait to get more of his story.

The Boy Most Likely To picks up shortly after My Life Next Door. I loved this because the characters were right where we left them! I didn’t have to play catch-up to figure out what had happened. I did re-read MLND before starting TBMLT but you certainly wouldn’t have to. I was just craving some time with Jase and Samantha!

Tim’s story was everything I hoped it’d be. He really made some positive but hard life changes in MLND. He’s still in a pretty dark place, but moving forward. This was very different from Jase (a “good” guy) as the love interest in MLND. I think it easily could have become overwhelming. However, there were two main things that really made it work. One was Tim’s humor. He jokes around a lot, especially if he doesn’t know how to deal with something. This brought some levity to the story. Secondly, Tim isn’t the only one telling the story. We also get Alice’s perspective. She has her own issues that she’s dealing with. However, they aren’t as “dark” as Tim’s.

I just really loved this story and the way it was told. So many positive things! Tim and Alice were strong and interesting characters. Their relationship and struggles seemed authentic. The characters I loved from My Life Next Door are very much a part of the story. (Patsy and George are too fun!)

The Boy Most Likely To is an excellent companion to My Life Next Door and a strong story that stands on it’s own as well. What more could I ask for?!?
