Welcome to the next stop on the blog tour celebrating what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday! Dahl is one of the first authors I ever remember falling in love with. I just adored his books and would read and re-read them. I was thrilled to find out that I get to feature my favorite of his books, Fantastic Mr. Fox!
About the Book:
Nobody outfoxes Fantastic Mr. Fox!
Someone’s been stealing from the three meanest farmers around, and they know the identity of the thief-it’s Fantastic Mr. Fox! Working alone they could never catch hi; but now fat Boggis, squat Bunce, and skinny Bean have joined forces, and they have Mr. Fox and his family surrounded. What they don’t know is that they’re not dealing with just any fox-Mr. Fox would rather die than surrender. Only the most fantastic plan can save him now.
My Thoughts:
When I said I read and re-read Dahl’s book’s I mostly meant this one (and The Twits!) Something about this story just captured me. It’s the first non-picture book I remember reading on my own. It will always hold a special place in my heart 🙂
After rereading it as an adult I can tell you that I still totally love it. However, I noticed totally different things than I did as a kid! I love it when this happens. For one thing, Mr. Fox is quite the politician! He manages to get all the other animals to think he’s fantastic when he’s the reason they’re in trouble in the first place! And what a smooth talker he is! I still love him though.
Fantastic Mr. Fox is a quick and entertaining read. Quentin Blake’s illustrations add so much to the story. This one remains a very favorite 🙂
