Thanks to the lovely people at Lionsgate I had the chance to see Insurgent a few days early!
On Monday, March 16 I headed to Wauwatosa with some friends to check it out.
(Thanks again to Lionsgate for the Insurgent shirt! So many people asked where I got it!)
In case you live under a rock or just have somehow missed it, here’s the Insurgent trailer:
I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what to think about the movie from that. I mean, it’s a really well done trailer but it had me scrambling to remember more about the book (which I re-read a little over a year ago.) Let’s just say that, well I was excited for the movie, I had concerns. I need not have worried!
Insurgent was spectacular! The special effects, the set, the story, the acting… all of it was so well done. I honestly think I may have liked it more than Divergent. A few thoughts:

- Yes, the movie is different from the book. It’s an adaptation!! I was so impressed with the way they managed to stay true to the overall feel of the book while still making it work as a movie. It was expertly done.
- Let me be shallow for a moment and just say how beautiful Theo James and Shailene Woodley are:
- The special effects were stellar. And seeing it in 3D? So, so cool. I highly recommend it!
- The movie just flew by! At one point I remember realizing that we had to be over half way through but I felt like it had just begun (in a good way!)
- I loved seeing Tris and Four interact (and not just because it means more Theo!)
- Marcus was hardly in the movie which kind of threw me at first but, frankly, he wasn’t missed!
- Caleb and Peter…. their characters are so interesting!!
- I just really, really loved it! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I’m really excited to see where they go from here!
