Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry
This is a topic I could go on and on about! I can be such a cry baby!!! You can check out my list from November 2010 as well. Those still apply 🙂 All of the books on this list broke my heart and made me ugly cry. Most out my heart back together and gave me hope, too. Every one of these is a favorite.

1. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein: I don’t know that I’ve ever been so distraught hours after finishing a book. I listened to the audiobook and it about killed me.

2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: I can barely talk about this book without tearing up. My whole book club was crying when talking about it! Such memorable characters.

3. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness: This goes for all three books. I think Patrick Ness might feed on the tears of his readers. And I am totally okay with that. With writing like his, he can break my heart any day.

4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: Oy. Sobbing. All of the tears. And smiles. All the smiles too!

5. The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta: This is the first book I can remember sobbing at. Not just tearing up but gasping for breath crying. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. This. Book.

6. Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King: I had to pull off the road while listening to this audiobook because I was crying so hard. Yeah, that was awkward.

7. If I Stay by Gayle Forman: All the feels. Ditto for Where She Went. Gayle Forman writes such real and emotional books! All of the feels.

8. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor: Laini’s writing is so beautiful and evocative. Of course I teared up while reading!

9. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta: I still haven’t reviewed this one because I don’t even know where to start. So many stories within. So beautiful to see it all come together.

10. eleanor & park by Rainbow Rowell: Yeah. The characters just became so real to me. I just wanted to hug them and make everything right for them!

Also, I have to mention Black Heart by Holly Black. There is one scene in particular that totally broke my heart. It’s not even a “big” scene in the book. Still, I read it nearly two years ago but my heart still breaks for one of the characters. I don’t want to spoil anything but it happens when Cassel goes to borrow a few dollars from his brother’s wallet. Niagara Falls. Every. Time.
