I am so pleased to be the next stop on the blog tour for Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs. Of course I am curious about the tales we’ll find in this book. I’m also excited because it’s gorgeous. I cannot wait to see it on my bookshelf 🙂

About the Book:

Before Miss Peregrine gave them a home, the story of peculiars was written in the Tales.

Wealthy cannibals who dine on the discarded limbs of peculiars. A fork-tongued princess. These are but a few of the truly brilliant stories in Tales of the Peculiar—the collection of fairy tales known to hide information about the peculiar world, including clues to the locations of time loops—first introduced by Ransom Riggs in his #1 bestselling Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series.

Riggs now invites you to share his secrets of peculiar history, with a collection of original stories in this deluxe volume of Tales of the Peculiar. Featuring stunning illustrations from world-renowned artist Andrew Davidson, this compelling, rich, and truly peculiar anthology is the perfect gift for not only fans, but for all lovers of great storytelling.

Top 3 Reasons I Love Books from the Peculiar:

  1. The Characters and World: I am simply fascinated by everything about these stories. When reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, I was hungry for each new revelation about the characters and the world they lived in. I wanted to know more and more and more about how everything worked. And the loop! Genius. I had so much fun trying to wrap my brain around it all.
  2. Just Creepy Enough: I am a huge baby when it comes to creepy or eerie books. I can’t normally read them. These books are just the right balance of creepy and fascinating that I simply couldn’t stop. I certainly got the shivers but the story and characters were so compelling that the creep factor was never overwhelming for me. I so appreciate it when I find this since it’s so rare.
  3. Connections: This is actually the number one reason I love these books… they are so, so, so popular with the students and staff at the middle school I work in. I am always encouraging the staff at my school to read the book our students are reading. I don’t have to try very hard with these ones. They fly off the shelves. I’ve even bought extra copies with my own money to bring in for the staff to borrow so the students can check out the ones we have in the library. I love seeing so many people so excited about books and connecting with each other over a shared reading experience!

As you can see, I have reason to be excited for Tales of the Peculiar. I just know I’m going to have many requests for it this school year. I cannot wait to get my hands on it so I can devour it before putting it out for the students and staff at my school to enjoy as well.

And of course Tales of the Peculiar will  be the perfect book to tide you over for the movie release of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children on September 30th!
