In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

My Thoughts:

I am consistently impressed by Marissa Meyer! She is forever doing things I think I don’t like and proving me wrong!

Reading about a cyborg? I thought, “meh” but she wowed me with Cinder.

Following new characters in book two? I thought I only wanted more Cinder and Kai. Again, way wrong. Ohmystars, how I love every new character!!!

By Cress I knew that I could trust Marissa Meyer and her direction for The Lunar Chronicles.

Still, when Fairest was announced I have to admit, I wondered about a prequel story based on the life of the Lunar Queen. I mean, Levana is terrible! One of those characters you love to hate. I wasn’t sure I wanted a whole book of her. But, since it was Marissa Meyer, I was excited anyway.  Turns out my trust was not misplaced!

I flew through Fairest. It’s shorter than the other books so I basically read it cover to cover in one sitting. I was fascinated by the events of Levana’s life and the factors that shaped her into the character we meet in Cinder. Don’t get me wrong, she’s still awful. But also totally fascinating.

So, am I still totally dying for Winter? Of course! But Fairest was a treat to tide me over! Man, I just love The Lunar Chronicles!
