Trinity
Don’t leave me here... It starts with a whisper. At first Trinity thinks she’s going crazy. It wouldn’t be a big surprise—her grandpa firmly believes there’s a genuine dragon egg in their dusty little West Texas town. But this voice is real, and it’s begging for her protection. Even if no one else can hear it...

Connor
He’s come from a future scorched by dragonfire. His mission: Find the girl. Destroy the egg. Save the world.

Caleb
He’s everything his twin brother Connor hates: cocky, undisciplined, and obsessed with saving dragons.

Trinity has no idea which brother to believe. All she has to go by is the voice in her head—a dragon that won’t be tamed.

My Thoughts:

So, earlier in the year I failed at blogging. There are a number of great books I read that I never reviewed. Scorched by Mari Mancusi is just one of those books!

A number of things drew me to this book. First, I’ve met Mari at a number of bookish events and she’s about the nicest person you could want to meet! Also, I’ve really liked what she had to say on the panels and at the events where I’ve seen her. Second, and more to the point, DRAGONS!!!! This is an auto-sell for me. Must. Read. All. The. Dragon. Books. I’m partial to dragons in high fantasy but also enjoy seeing how authors work them into a contemporary setting (which is the case in Scorched.)

I had so much fun reading this book. I loved the setting, the action, the fantasy elements, and, of course, the dragons! Trinity is an engaging character with a story that draws the reader in. I loved her interactions with her grandfather so much! And then Connor and Caleb come in!!! I loved how, like Trinity, the reader isn’t sure who to trust. That adds so much to the pacing and the suspense of the story.

And then of course there’s Emmy, the dragon. Can imagine finding out that dragons are real by seeing one hatch? And hearing it talk in your mind?!?!? Crazy talk. The development of Trinity and Emmy’s connection was just as interesting to me as the action and the romance! I’m pretty excited to see where things go next. After book one I’m still not sure what I want to happen!

Basically, this is a great read for fans of dragons or those who like a little fantasy in the real world!

Okay I have to admit, I want this book like yesterday. I also admit this is a time when a cover makes me want to grab the book without even reading the blurb. Gorgeous! This one goes to the top of the pile, definitely. Also, love your blog! And hate it too as my list is growing, growing, growing… 😉
