BEA wrap-up 2014

June 18, 2014 Wrap-Up 4

Finally!  A BEA wrap-up post!! I’ve been waiting on the books I shipped home to arrive. I was getting really worried since it’s been weeks. Finally, I decided to check in with the insurance agency downstairs to see if my box somehow got delivered there. Sure enough! It’s been there FOR A WEEK and no one at the post office or the insurance agency thought to tell me. Ugh. I’m just glad the books made it! But first, a few pics to give some highlights of the week (note: even thought I always say I’ll take more photos I NEVER DO!!)

I got to see Michael Grant again. I met him last September at the Anderson’s YA Lit Conference.

Garth Nix!!! I’ve been listening to the audiobook of Sabriel and LOVING it so I was excited to meet him!!

Harlequin hosted a blogger breakfast! They had five great authors there.

I hit the exhibit floor without much of a plan. I was excited to see Chewie!

SCOTT WESTERFELD!!! Yeah, I did the awkward thing where I went up and introduced myself.

Cassandra Clare and Holly Black! Perhaps my favorite day!!

Spent my last day with the wonderful Katie from Mundie Moms and Erin from Fangirlish. We blew off most of BookCon and just bummed around NYC. Best. Decision. Ever.

Two of the only books I planned to stand in line for! These women are such incredible authors!

Harlequin Teen Blogger Breakfast

Talon by Julie Kagawa was one I had on my list! The others look interesting as well!

Some great titles from S&S! Particularly looking forward to Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld. It’s such a beast because it is actually TWO novels woven together!

Bloomsbury Breakfast

HEIR OF FIRE!!!! This was one of the books at the top of my list! Super excited about the other two as well.

Miscellaneous

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black was the number one book I wanted! They gave it to us at the NOVL brunch Little, Brown hosted! They actually gave us more but they’re sending the rest to me. I couldn’t part with this one! Open Road Summer was in my grab bag at the Blogger/Author party on Thursday night. Rapture Practice is one that one of my roommates got but didn’t want! I snagged it!

These are the books I really wanted going into BEA. I tried to be selective! These all just look so great!

These are the ones publicists, authors, or bloggers talked me into picking up. A couple are ones I didn’t know would be at BEA but I was thrilled to find! I’m excited to see what they’re like. They all sound like ones I’d enjoy!

For those keeping track at home, that’s 32 books! I totally think that’s manageable! A couple of them are ones I’m donating to the public library but the rest I plan to read ASAP. I have my work cut out for me!

Overall, BEA was a great time. I really enjoyed just hanging out with people and chatting about books, life, and whatever else came up! It really is an exhausting conference though! It’s not one I plan to attend every year. I’ll take getting fewer books and spending more quality time with authors, bloggers, and industry professionals any day!

Thank you for sharing all those pics! Someday I will go to BEA and this reminds me why I want to go. And yep yep on the photo with Cassandra Claire and Holly Black…have to say that would be a fave of mine too. Happy Reading!

I’m glad you had a good time. Definitely skipping BookCon was a good decision. Although, that photo of you at the top of the rock was freaking me out. Being at the top of tall buildings makes me VERY anxious.

I’ve already read Sisters and Thursdays with the Crown and really liked both of them.

AHHHH! SO MANY GREAT ONES!!! I would be very jealous that you got to meet Black and Clare but then I see we’ll get to meet them at the YA Conf in Sept! Woot! Woot!
