Veronica Roth Event + giveaway

October 31, 2013 Uncategorized 0

I don’t typically wrote up posts after attending events but I had such a great time at the Veronica Roth event I had to share! So, prepare to a photo heavy post with a few links as well ๐Ÿ™‚

First things first, the event was sold out. That’s 1,000 tickets sold! I ended up with four tickets since three friends couldn’t make it. I invited my friend and co-worker Julie to come with (note: She bought an extra signed copy of the book to donate to my school library since that’s what the previous ticket holder asked I do with their book!)

Julie is dauntless but I’m totally amity. Of course we dressed up! It was so fun to see so many people in their faction and Divergent gear!
They were handing out some great Allegiant goodies!
Stickers and “The World of Divergent”
My Allegiant poster is already up in my library ๐Ÿ™‚
The event started with Margot Wood (from Epic Reads!) asking Veronica questions submitted via social media. It was fun to see these ladies interact! After the submitted questions were answered it was opened up to audience questions. I was impressed that no one asked anything spoilery! You can watch the livestream of the event here.
Veronica had a surprise for us as well! Her brother is a musician and has written a song inspired by the books and Tris. He was there to preform it for us and Veronica sang back-up! The song is called The Mark and you can listen to it here. What talented siblings!! The performance is also in the livestream ๐Ÿ™‚

After all that excitement it was signing time. Since we were at a theater they played a movie for those waiting for their number to be called. Veronica choose Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ๐Ÿ™‚ About halfway through the movie it was out turn to get our books signed ๐Ÿ™‚

We couldn’t take posed photos but we allowed photos when out of the signing line.

Basically, Veronica is pretty much the sweetest. I felt kind of like a fool since I had a folder full of stuff to give her but I wanted her to see all the cool things my students are doing for the book! She was very gracious and delightful. Definitely one of my favorite authors to see. She is so classy, well spoken, and fun! If you ever get a chance to attend a signing I highly recommend it!

Thanks to Anderson’s Bookshop and Tivoli Theater for hosting such a great event! And many, many thanks to Harper for sending Veronica Roth our way!
I know there are many people who didn’t get to attend a Veronica Roth signing. So, I have a signed paperback copy of Divergent, faction stickers, faction tattoos, and a set of faction pins I made to giveaway.
Use the rafflecopter to enter. US only. Must be 13 or older to win. Ends November 15.
