About the Book: She doesn’t see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.
Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who’ll be next. (goodreads)
My Thoughts: Why did I wait so long to read this book? All I can say is that I was a fool! I bought a copy a couple years ago but just never got around to it. Then I saw the audiobook on sale. For $6.95 I couldn’t pass it up! Good thing I already owned the book. I got so involved in the story I couldn’t wait for the audio to get on with it. I needed to read ahead!
I have to admit that I was a bit leery of the paranormal aspect of the book. Banshees? Or rather, bean sidhe? I really had no clue what to expect. Thankfully what I got was awesome. I loved the mythos that went along with it and how it all worked in Kaylee’s life. I also just plain loved Kaylee. She was a character I really took to. Like, I wasn’t anything like her as a teen (even aside from the whole paranormal aspect!) but I found myself rooting for her and wanting to know more about her.
The writing style really captured me and kept me reading. As I said, I had to pick up the book because reading is faster than listening to the audiobook. I had been trying to clean while I listened but I just gave up. The story was way more important!
My Soul to Take is a strong start to a series I cannot wait to dive deeper into. I need to know more about this world Rachel Vincent has created.
Audiobook Notes: Nothing wrong with the audio 🙂 Great narration and everything. I was just impatient!
