1. What’s your name?
Heidi
2. Where in the world are you blogging from?
Wisconsin
3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?
I honestly don’t remember exactly. I know I stumbled upon some book blogs and thought that it was such a fun idea. As a middle school librarian I was talking about books with students, but much of what I was reading was more high school appropriate. I thought blogging would give me an outlet to talk about those books, too!
4. How did you come up with your blog name?
I’m not super creative/clever. I knew I wanted it to be YA specific and I just like the word bibliophile. From there I tried to see what other blogs were out there so I didn’t use the same name as someone else.
5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
I read pretty widely but certainly have a marked preference for contemporary romance and fantasy!
6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
I sporadically participate in Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Each month I post a monthly TBR pile to feature the books I’m hoping to get to that month. It’s not set in stone but it helps guide me. I also participate in blog tours and host guest posts. That’s about it!
7. Best blogging experience so far?
Oh man. I don’t know that I have one specific thing. I’ve really just loved all the chances to meet authors, bloggers, and publishing industry folks. When I started blogging I didn’t have many people in my life who loved YA like I did. It was so nice to find others passionate about YA and books in general! And of course going to conferences is always a great time!
8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?
I know there can be drama but I think there is even more good going on. I love the friendships that I’ve made and the genuine excitement to share things we love.
9. Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2016!
This is too hard! I made two lists… one for the next in a series and one for new series/stand-alones
Series Continuations:
- The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
- The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
- Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
- Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima
- Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Stand-alones/New Series:
- Summer Days & Summer Nights edited by Steph Perkins
- And I Darken by Kiersten White
- Tell The Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan
- Heartless by Marissa Meyer
- The New Guy (and Other Senior Year Distractions) by Amy Spaulding
10. Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn’t get to in previous years!
- Salvage by Alexandra Duncan
- The Girl with the Wind-up Heart by Kady Cross
- Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
- The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand
- The rest of the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine (Cheater, I know!)
11. What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
I really, really love The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan, Curse Workers by Holly Black, and Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard… to start anyway!
12. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
I would love to hang out with Karou and Zuzana from Daughter of Smoke & Bone!
13. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?
Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables forever and for always!
14. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad (5 characters max)
I’m no good at this question! Katniss for sure…. probably someone from Cassandra Clare’s books. Will or Jace or maybe Magnus Bane? Perhaps Day and June from Legend? Like I said, not sure!
15. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?
I like traveling, crafting, and spending time with family and friends 🙂
16. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
Crafty things, nerdy things for my desk and bookshelf, purses, home decor…. anything you can get at Target!
17. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?
No idea. Like, at all. It’d probably be an audiobook!!!
18. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.
I would do things of questionable legality to see Holly Black’s Curse Workers trilogy as a TV Show. Oh man. A magical mafia TV series… 🙂
19. What would your dream library look like?
Basically the one in Beauty and the Beast but with mostly YA books and historical romance novels!
20. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea with?
J.K. Rowling, obviously! If not her I’d love to meet Robin McKinley or Melina Marchetta! I’ve been so lucky and have met many of my favorite authors.
