NOTE: This is the final book in a trilogy. The following post may contain spoilers for books one and two!!!
About the Book: After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.
To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.
In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.
My Thoughts: Yet another series I love has ended. Enter the bittersweet feelings, the mixture of joy and loss! I absolutely loved getting some closure on this chapter of Helen and Co.’s story but it’s odd to think that we won’t be going on any more adventures with them.
Still, what a ride it was! The basis in Greek history and mythology added so much to the story. The Greek threads of fate, irony, hubris. The drama of starcrossed lovers and blood debts. Gods and demigods and creatures from the deep. And amidst all this, Scions longing for free will. Set all this in Nantucket and throw in some endearing human characters and you have a series I can’t get enough of. I loved it all!
What to say about this final book without giving away “the good stuff?” It had me captivated. I read it in one sitting. I just had to know what happened to all these characters I had grown so attached to. I was not disappointed! That doesn’t mean I wasn’t heartbroken! I’m pretty sure Josie likes to make her readers squirm. There were twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Helen has grown and changed so much through the series. I love that she doesn’t back down or give up. We learn many secrets about the characters and see more of the past and how it affects what is going on in Helen’s lifetime. It really gives the reader a complete view of how the scions got to where they are. Basically, it was awesome.
If you’ve not picked up Starcrossed yet I highly suggest you get on it! Josephine Angelini has crafted a mesmerizing tale you won’t want to miss. Clearly, I’m a fan.
