Welcome to my first spotlight post for the Apollycon 2017 Blog Tour! I’ll have a couple more of these over the next few months. To kick-off my tour posts I have a spotlight post on the amazing C.J. Redwine!
About C.J. Redwine:
C.J. Redwine loves fairy tales, Harry Potter, and any movie starring Johnny Depp. She is the author of the Defiance trilogy, a post-apocalyptic fantasy from Balzer + Bray. Quick 5 with C.J.:
Thing you’re most excited about for Apollycon 2017:
I’m so excited to talk to readers! (And also to shop for books because BOOOOOKS amiright?). I always meet the *best* people at events like Apollycon, and we have such an incredible line up of authors that I know I’m going home with a suitcase full of incredible books too!
Favorite bookish moment:
Last year, I got to be on a panel with Terry Brooks. THE Terry Brooks. The author whose books I devoured all through my teen years. I had plans to be totally calm and vaguely sophisticated, but then I blew it as soon as I opened my mouth. I was supposed to introduce myself and talk about my books but IT WAS TERRY BROOKS AND HE WAS SITTING RIGHT THERE AND I LOST MY EVER LOVING MIND. I fangirled over him for several minutes instead of talking about my books. It was basically asfkjalkgjldfasd with a whole lot of !!!!! thrown in for good measure. He was super gracious about it, and I adore him for not taking out a restraining order.
Last person you hugged:
My daughters as I put them to bed for the night. I do a lot of hugging on them because they are six and four, and I am still (marginally) cool to them. I do a lot of hugging my teen boys too, but it involves chasing them down and tackling them and ignoring their manly cries of “Mooooom!” so it’s kind of more like an aerobic workout. At least that’s what I record on my fitbit dashboard.
Favorite place in the world:
The beach. Preferably one without a lot of people on it. Something in my spirit just feels like I’ve come home every time I walk onto a deserted beach.
Last emoticon you used:
I’m not proud of this but it was the smiling pile of crap. (My teen was reading over my shoulder and just informed me that it is a poop emoji, not a smiling pile of crap. Whatever, teen. Whatev.) It’s actually one of the top emojis that shows up on my emoji screen because I use it so often, but honestly it’s very multipurpose.
Most Recent Release:
Lorelai Diederich, crown princess and fugitive at large, has one mission: kill the wicked queen who took both the Ravenspire throne and the life of her father. To do that, Lorelai needs to use the one weapon she and Queen Irina have in common—magic. She’ll have to be stronger, faster, and more powerful than Irina, the most dangerous sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.
In the neighboring kingdom of Eldr, when Prince Kol’s father and older brother are killed by an invading army of magic-wielding ogres, the second-born prince is suddenly given the responsibility of saving his kingdom. To do that, Kol needs magic—and the only way to get it is to make a deal with the queen of Ravenspire, promise to become her personal huntsman…and bring her Lorelai’s heart.
But Lorelai is nothing like Kol expected—beautiful, fierce, and unstoppable—and despite dark magic, Lorelai is drawn in by the passionate and troubled king. Fighting to stay one step ahead of the dragon huntsman—who she likes far more than she should—Lorelai does everything in her power to ruin the wicked queen. But Irina isn’t going down without a fight, and her final move may cost the princess the one thing she still has left to lose.
