About the Book: June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.
It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.
But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?
In this highly-anticipated sequel, Lu delivers a breathtaking thriller with high stakes and cinematic action.
My Thoughts: I was totally late getting on the Legend bandwagon! I had an ARC from BEA but I didn’t listen to the audiobook until months after the book was released. I fell in love with the story. And since I have awesome bookish friends I got to read Prodigy way early. Actually, I read it on a beach in Mexico this past July:
It was pretty amazing and I could not wait to talk about it! I jotted a ton of notes on notecards since I knew I’d wait months to post the review. I, of course, left those notes in Mexico! So not helpful! Still, Prodigy stuck with me. I loved the back and forth between Day and June. Plus, we are introduced to new places, characters, and secrets! I absolutely loved how much more history and world building we got. And the action! Oh my stars! I may have physically been on a beach in Mexico but my heart was pounding and I was mentally having all sorts of adventures! The character and plot developments were fab. I am torn on some of the things that I might want to happen next and am now dying for book three!
I am happy to say the Prodigy most certainly does not suffer from lame- second-book-in-a-trilogy syndrom. It’s an action packed follow up that sets book three up to be epic! I cannot even express how excited I am to see more from Marie Lu.
