My Thoughts: Mythos Academy is a series I really enjoy. I love the way it blends mythologies from all around the world and works them in to a modern day setting. The fact that the setting is a boarding school is a huge plus! If you’ve seen my review of Touch of Frost (book one) or Kiss of Frost (book two) you’ve already heard me go on and on about how much I enjoy it!
There were some pretty big secrets revealed to Gwen in book two. She is also given a quest to accomplish in order to prevent another Chaos War from occurring. Dark Frost starts soon after Kiss of Frost ends. And oh what a start it is! We jump right in to the action and are reminded that Gwen is part of a world on the brink of war.
I really liked the tension Gwen’s “dual” life creates. On one hand she’s a teenaged girl. She has the “regular” problems… friends, school, boys, etc… On the other hand there is the whole “champion of a goddess trying to prevent a war of the gods” thing! Add in the fact that Gwen has some psychic powers as part of her gypsy blood and you can see how crazy her life can be.
Dark Frost is a solid addition to the Mythos Academy series. I love the combination of action, romance, mythology and high school life.
