About the Book:It was a beautiful, warm summer day, the day Danny died.

Suddenly Wren was alone and shattered. In a heartbroken fury, armed with dark incantations and a secret power, Wren decides that what she wants—what she must do—is to bring Danny back.
But the Danny who returns is just a shell of the boy Wren fell in love with. His touch is icy; his skin, smooth and stiff as marble; his chest, cruelly silent when Wren rests her head against it.
Wren must keep Danny a secret, hiding him away, visiting him at night, while her life slowly unravels around her. Then Gabriel DeMarnes transfers to her school, and Wren realizes that somehow, inexplicably, he can sense the powers that lie within her—and that he knows what she has done. And now Gabriel wants to help make things right.
But Wren alone has to undo what she has wrought—even if it means breaking her heart all over again.

My Thoughts: This book was not at all what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. First of all, the cover is gorgeous! The title is embossed and a bit iridescent. The cover jacket has some sort of effect that makes it look as though it is frosted over. It’s so pretty!

At the start of Cold Kiss the reader can tell something is not right but you aren’t sure what it is. Wren (the narrator) knows but she doesn’t come right out and say it. I loved this. I like  it when events and pieces of the story are revealed bit by bit. Amy Garvey creates a great balance between giving the reader details and leaving the story open. I don’t want to spoil the experience for others so I’ll just say it was really well done!

As I was reading I found my heart hurting for poor Wren. First love can be so powerful. To have it ripped away would be so traumatizing. It’s one thing for it to fizzle out but death? That is so much for a teen to deal with (for anyone to deal with!) Add to that the power to raise the dead and you have some seriously bad decision making. But don’t let the zombie bit throw you off! There is no eating of the brains!

Cold Kiss is a haunting story of secrets, love, healing, and hope.
