My Thoughts: Gah!! Finally… the final Gallagher Girls book. It’s so bittersweet! At first I couldn’t decide if I wanted to dive right in or put it off so it wouldn’t be over. Obviously the former won! And, even though I hated to say goodbye to the characters and the world of the Gallagher Academy, I absolutely loved this finale. So often the end of a series leaves me unsettled. Not so with United We Spy. Ally Carter did a fabulous job pulling everything together. Obviously I still want more. I’ll always want more (I am such a greedy reader!) Even so, this is one of the few series where I felt good when I finished the last page.
Since this is the final book in a series with lots of twists and turns I don’t want to go into detail. It’s way more fun to read each book “blind.” Instead I thought I’d share three things I love about the Gallagher Girls series:
*Spies! Teen spies! Female teen spies! I love a good spy story and we have a number of great teen spy series in my LMC. However, Gallagher Girls is one of the only ones with more than a token female character. These girls kick butt. I love the fast pace and all the spy goodness!
*Boarding School! More specifically, the Gallagher Academy. I’m a sucker for a book set at a boarding school. But the Gallagher Academy? Blows all other boarding schools out of the water. For. Real. There are so many cool things about it. It’s right next to Hogwarts in my “places I wish were real” list.
*What it means to be a Gallagher Girl. This is my very favorite part. Gallagher Girls are more than just fellow spies. It’s a sisterhood and they’re there for one another. I absolutely love the friendships in these books. Of course they have there ups and downs. What friendships don’t? But Ally Carter does a fabulous job of showing what it means for friends to be there for and support each other. I can’t say enough about it! I so want to be a Gallagher Girl!
The Gallagher Girls series is one of my go to reads when I want something fun that will keep me captivated. It’s also one of my most book-talked series. I know that when I recommend these books to my teens they’re going to get a great story with characters they can relate to (even though they’re spies!)
United We Spy is a solid conclusion to a much loved series. My only complaint is that I never wanted it to end! I highly recommend it.
