This fall has not been great for me reading my TBR pile. I did read 5 or 6 of the books I had listed but I didn’t read any backlist or finish series this month. I was busier than usual but still… I decided to do something totally different for December. I’ve really done a poor job of reading graphic novels/comics/manga recently. I keep up on what’s popular so I can order them for my library but I haven’t been actually reading them myself. That stops now! I’m dedicating my December reading pile to graphic novels, comics, an manga! I asked twitter for recs and here’s what I was told to read:

(This doesn’t include books I didn’t have in the library or that I’d already read)

Nathan Hale’s Hazerdous Tales: Big Bad Ironclad by Nathan Hale
Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson
Drama by Raina Telgemeier
Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong by Prudence Shen and Faith Erin Hicks
Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol
Foiled by Jane Yolen and Mike Cavallaro
Astronaut Academy
by Dave Roman
In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang
Zita the Space Girl by Ben Hatke
Page by Paige by Laura Lee Gulledge
Cardboard by Doug TenNapel
Out From Boneville by Jeff Smith
Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
Young Avengers by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, and Matthew Wilson
The Lumberjanes by Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Brooke A. Allen

You might have noticed there isn’t any manga… I didn’t get any recommendations for ones I hadn’t read. So, If you have suggestions for manga appropriate for 12 to 14-year-olds (or other graphic novels or comics!) let me know in the comments!!!

I don’t read that many graphic novels, but every once in awhile I will pick one up. I have read three of these. Drama (LOVE Raina Telgemeier!), Anaya’s Ghost, and Ms. Marvel vol.1. I do want to read Lumberjanes, too. And I should definitely look into Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales. They are super popular.

    Good luck!
