Oh man. It’s week five of the #ReadISLA campaign and things just got real! We’ve seen a sneak peek of Isla and the Happily Ever After and revisited both Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door. Now, the lovely people running the campaign over at Penguin Teen have turned up the heat! This week they want to know, Team Anna, Team Lola, or Team Isla? I KNOW!!!! What?!?!?! How can I possibly pick?!?!
Team Anna:
First, of course, there’s Anna. How can you not love the girl who kicked it all off? I mean, she brought us to Paris!
Team Lola:
And Lola! With her amazing sense of self (and style!) how could you not love her? How much fun would it be to shop with her?!?
Team Isla:
And finally, Isla. I love how Isla takes us back to SOAP, where it all started. Even the brief sampler shows how great she is.
So, which team am I?!?

Now, don’t get me wrong… I adore Anna and Lola. I am only choosing a favorite under duress 🙂 But for me, it’s Isla. I think it’s really that I identify with her on a different level than Anna and Lola. To illustrate my point I’ll use some mini-excerpts provided by Penguin Teen. They just happen to work perfectly!
We’re first introduced to Isla in Anna and the French Kiss. Remember that?!? Even then, we know that she has a crush on Josh. I was that girl… the one with the long-standing crush! “The him” as Isla would say:

The way Isla analyzes her interactions with Josh and tries to downplay them just in case it’s not what she thinks. Oh man, can I identify with that!
And Isla’s reaction when Josh takes her hand:
Actually, I think she plays it way cooler than I would have! I’d be a mess! And I’d totally have a thought like this:
Basically, Isla is a more clever version of teen me! She’s such a wonderful character and I just cannot wait for you all to get to know her better! You really don’t want to miss out on Isla and the Happily Ever After! Pre-order your copy and read it ASAP!!
