May “Recommended by…” Part One

May 5, 2014 "Recommended by..." 0

rec“Recommended by…” is a monthly feature in which an awesome bookish person recommends a book that I just have to read. It’s posted in two parts. Part one is the intro to the recommender and the recommendation. Part two posts later in the month and recaps my thoughts on the book.

The Recommender:

Elizabeth Eulberg photoI’m pleased to have the delightful Elizabeth Eulberg on the blog with May’s recommendation! She’s one of my very favorite authors… and that’s not just because she’s also a Wisconsin girl! I know that when I pick up one of her books I’m going to find a story that entertains and gives me the escape I’m looking for in reading! Here’s more about Elizabeth from her blog:

Elizabeth Eulberg was born and raised in Wisconsin before heading off to college at Syracuse University and making a career in the New York City book biz. Now a full-time writer, she is the author of The Lonely Hearts Club, Prom & Prejudice, Take a Bow,Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality, and Better Off Friends. She lives outside of Manhattan with her three guitars, two keyboards, and one drumstick.

The Recommendation:

18475596High school romance is tough—even for a bona fide love goddess. Can Cupid succeed as a mortal matchmaker?

When Eros (aka Cupid) is expelled from Olympus for defying Zeus after falling in love with Orion, she is banished to what she believes to be hell. We call it New Jersey. If she ever wants to go back to the comforts of her old life, she will have to find love for three couples—without using her powers.

Eros, now calling herself True, immediately identifies her first project in Charlie and believes finding him love will be a piece of cake. Charlie is new at school and eager to break out of his old image of band geek, so it’s lucky for him when he falls in with the right crowd on his first day. But music is still his passion. That is, until he meets Katrina…

Katrina is floundering after the death of her father and takes refuge with a boy who, while not entirely supportive, will be there when she needs him, unlike her mother. Too bad True thinks any girl Charlie talks to is perfect for him. Can she get out of her own way and help Charlie and Katrina connect, or will she be stuck in New Jersey forever?

Why did Elizabeth recommend this one: I have the biggest crush on Kieran Scott’s ONLY EVERYTHING, it’s one of my favorite reads of the year. Not only is the premise so unique (after angering Zeus, Cupid gets sent to New Jersey where she has to find true love for three couples without using her powers), it has everything you could want in a book: humor, romance, cute boys, cupcakes–what’s not to like! And not to brag, but I got to read the second book, Complete Nothing, and it just keeps getting better and better. You HAVE to read this book. You can thank me later.

Again, thanks so much to Elizabeth for this recommendation! I brought the ARC to work waitressing this weekend to read between shifts and everyone wanted to know more about it. I already have a slew of co-workers who want to borrow it when I’m done! I’ve only read the prologue so far and I’m hooked! Can’t wait to dive in!!!!!
