About the Book: Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.
In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.
My Thoughts: How does Marissa Meyer do it? I thought Cinder was amazing. Then Scarlet came out and it was even better (which I didn’t think possible!) And now Cress. Cress!!!! It’s my new favorite of the three!I just keep falling more and more in love with the characters and the story.
As is often the case as I get further in a series, I don’t want to spoil any of the previous books! I’m not clever enough to write up a full review and keep it spoiler free. But I REALLY want to share my love of this book so here’s a list of some of my favorite things!
*Cress: She is such a fun character to get to know! She has been isolated with only her netscreens for company. She is very knowledgeable about what’s going on in the world but has no practical application. Every experience is new for her! She is determined and kind and I can’t wait for more of her story! How can you not like a character like that?
*Thorne: !!!!!! I just love him! Think Han Solo. Think Sturmhond (for you Grisha fans!) Charming and attractive and just a bit of a rogue. Apparently that’s how I like my heroes! And I really like the interplay between Cress and Thorne. It’s awesome.
*Iko: I adore her. I want her to be my friend. Best. Personality chip. Ever.
*ALL the characters: Really, they’re all great.
*Story Weaving: Marissa Meyer is a rockstar at bringing the different stories together. I love seeing all the ways they intersect and how “smaller” things from previous books turn in to something more. Also, the ways she takes the fairy tales and updates them and makes them her own. I’m in awe.
*Secrets revealed: There are so many secrets being revealed! I love that the characters are getting clued in on things the reader knew/figured out. Stars, Winter is going to be epic!!!
I could gush and gush about this book and the series in general. I am such a fan! It just goes to show that sometimes you need to read out of your comfort zone! I’m so glad I picked up Cinder. Winter can’t come soon enough!
