About the Book: In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .
But the struggle isn’t over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there’s still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.
Pulses will race throughout this thrilling fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.
My Thoughts: I really love this series. I flew through the first three books earlier this year (after finally reading the final Vampire Academy book!) I couldn’t put them down. I adored the Vampire Academy series but I love Bloodlines even more. There’s just something about Sydney and Adrian that I love to read!
Since this is the fourth book in the series I don’t want to spoil anything! I’ve haven’t reviewed any of the series on the blog (!?!?!?) so I thought I’d just highlight a few of my all around favorite things:
1. I love how different Sydney and Adrian are. She is uber-organized and always plays by the rules. He is so laid back and “devil may care.” It’s so fun to get both view points in the books. I also love that they’re both a bit snarky 🙂
2. And the other characters! So many great “others.” Jill, Eddie, Angeline, Trey, Ms. Terwilliger… they all bring somethign to the story.
3. Vampire Academy connections!! You may have noticed I mentioned quite a few characters from the VA books that crossover! Love it! Also, the world is one I’m already familiar with. Events from the past are referenced and I totally know what they’re talking about.
4. But there is still stuff that surprises me! Just when I think I know all about the Moroi world something new comes up!
5. Secret societies! Sydney is part of the Alchemists but there are other groups the reader is introduced to throughout the story. I’m a sucker for those. Plus boarding school, which is also in the book 🙂
6. Last, but certainly not least, the romantical bits. Especially later in the series. Love me some good kissing scenes!
Basically, whether or not you’ve read the Vampire Academy books, you need to check out the Bloodlines series. And seriously, why haven’t you read the VA books?!?!?
