About the Book: Plenty of teenagers feel invisible. Fiona McClean actually is.

An invisible girl is a priceless weapon. Fiona’s own father has been forcing her to do his dirty work for years—everything from spying on people to stealing cars to breaking into bank vaults.

After sixteen years, Fiona’s had enough. She and her mother flee to a small town, and for the first time in her life, Fiona feels like a normal life is within reach. But Fiona’s father isn’t giving up that easily.

Of course, he should know better than anyone: never underestimate an invisible girl.

My Thoughts: You guys! I fail!!! I read this book months ago and was waiting and waiting and waiting to review it the week of it’s debut and I missed it!!! Ugh. Silly work getting the the way of bookish life! Anyway, Transparent… I loved it!

First of all, Fiona is the daughter of a crime lord. I love crime family stories! Something about them just capture my attention. Maybe it’s the whole train wreck thing… I just can’t tear my eyes away! (Note: I have no desire to actually see crime family workings in real life 🙂 Thank goodness for fiction!) Add to that the X-men like mutations that some people in Fiona’s world possess and I am hooked!

Speaking of mutations or special abilities… Fiona’s is pretty obvious. She. is. invisible. I don’t know about you but I’ve always though that’d be pretty cool. However, after reading Transparent I realize that I have a caveat to that wish. I want it to be more like a cross between Harry Potter and his invisibility cloak and Fiona. No way would I want to be invisible all the time! Poor Fiona! She doesn’t even know what she looks like! Not cool, yo. Not cool at all.

Transparent was so much fun to read. I loved Fiona and her mom being on the run. The small town they find themselves in is full of endearing characters. I loved the friends that Fiona makes. Her relationships with her different family members were also interesting to explore. Basically I just loved everything about this book. Read it.
