Today I get the pleasure of kicking off the tour for Cayla Kluver’s Sacrifice. I read the first book in the series when it was first released a few years ago and I fell in love. I was so pleased when Harlequin Teen picked the series up. I was on a blog tour for both Legacy and Allegiance. Clearly I just had to be on this one too! I love how different each of these tours have been. This time around I am here to tell you five reasons I love this series. Since this is the third and final book we don’t want to spoil the series for those who haven’t read books one and/or two! Of course there is a giveaway too! Read to find out more 🙂
Five Reasons Why I Love the Legacy Trilogy by Cayla Kluver
1. The Descriptions: Cayla Kluver creates this really beautiful world for her readers to enter. The descriptions of the characters and their clothing, the places and their histories… they just create such a wonderful and complete picture. I felt transported to the world of the books. As a bonus, there are maps. You all know how I love maps!
2. Alera: For those of you not familiar with the series, Alera is the main character. She is the oldest child of the king and queen and thus her husband will rule. Now that she is entering her late teens it’s time to choose said husband. I have to admit… I didn’t love her at first. I kept wanting to shake her and say, “What are you thinking?!?!” But then I remembered how young she is. Of course she makes mistakes. As the story progresses she grows and really begins to find her place in her world. I grew to like her more and more for her strength and he desire to do what she believes is right.
3. London: Steldor and Narian are great and all but I adore Alera’s older bodyguard. Maybe it’s because I’m, well, thirty and and thirteen but he is my very favorite character. He’s been through so much but still maintains his sense of humor and ability to care about other people. I don’t want to give too much away here but just trust me… to know him is to love him. Also, I picture him as a more deadly Anderson Cooper so that helps 😉

4. My Indecision: Speaking of Steldor and Narian… I love that Cayla made me love them both! For those who haven’t picked Legacy up yet, Steldor is the guy Alera’s family wants her to be with. Narian is the wild card. Usually I am very firmly “pro” one guy and “no way in creation” toward the other. Not so here! I really admire them both and hate that! I want to not feel bad for the “other guy!” But I also love it… yay for characters that change my way of thinking about them!!!
5. The Readability: I mentioned the detailed descriptions as one of my favorite parts of this series. There are a lot of them. When this is the case there is always the danger that they’ll slow down the story or pull the reader out of the story flow. Not so here! These books are so, well, readable! There is action and adventure and mystery and romance. Danger! Kissing! Magic! History! ALL THE THINGS I LOVE! Yeah, you just really need to pick up book one and give it a shot 🙂
Giveaway:
Each blog on the tour will be giving away a copy of Sacrifice. One winner from all entries during the tour gets an HarlequinTEEN Prize Pack: 1 copy of Legacy (Book1), 1 Copy of Allegiance (Book 2) and 2 Copies of Sacrifice (Book 3), Bookmarks and Harlequin Notebooks. The giveaway is open to the US and Canada.
About the Book:
This is not the time for the fight to end. Now is when the fight will begin. This is the time to regain what has been lost.
This is a story told by two:
ALERA – Queen of a fallen kingdom, secretly in love with the enemy.
SHASELLE – Daughter of a murdered father, rebel with a cause.
One was ruler Hytanica, but now walks the razor’s edge to keep the fragile peace in her beloved homeland.
The other slips through the war-torn streets, seeking retribution for her family’s tragedy, following whispers of insurgency.
Both face choices that will separate them from those they cannot help but love. As their stories intertwine, a conspiracy ignites that may end in slavery or death—or lead to freedom anew, if only each can face what must be sacrificed. Told in part from within the castle by Alera and in part outside the walls by a new character, Shaselle, SACRIFICE showcases the final epic battle for love and freedom.
About the Author:
With the book industry currently in a debate over print vs. digital, Cayla Kluver, born October 2, 1992 in Wisconsin, truly embodies the next generation of author. At just 19 years-old, Cayla has already published her debut novel Legacy in three different formats.
It all began with self-publication and the creation of her own publishing house (with the help of her mom, called: Forsooth Publishing) in 2008. Cayla was then offered a digital debut with Amazon (was the premier title for Amazon’s self-publishing program, Amazon Encore) in 2009. Finally in 2010 Cayla was signed to a three book publishing deal with Harlequin TEEN.
She has cats, dogs and horses, and watches more crime shows than is probably healthy. Her office is filled with twinkly lights, candles and fun colors. She loves Robert Louis Stevenson and the Beatles, and you can follow her on Twitter @CaylaKL, as well as join her fan page on Facebook.
