Rev Fletcher is battling the demons of his past. But with loving adoptive parents by his side, he’s managed to keep them at bay...until he gets a letter from his abusive father and the trauma of his childhood comes hurtling back.

Emma Blue spends her time perfecting the computer game she built from scratch, rather than facing her parents’ crumbling marriage. She can solve any problem with the right code, but when an online troll’s harassment escalates, she’s truly afraid.

When Rev and Emma meet, they both long to lift the burden of their secrets and bond instantly over their shared turmoil. But when their situations turn dangerous, their trust in each other will be tested in ways they never expected. This must-read story will once again have readers falling for Brigid Kemmerer’s emotional storytelling.

My Thoughts:

Brigid Kemmerer’s Letters to the Lost was one of my favorite books last year. So I was going to be excited for any book she had coming out this year. But then I found out that More Than We Can Tell is set in the same town as Letters to the lost. Not only that, it features Rev, one of my favorite characters. Yup. I was sold!

I loved this one from start to finish. It’s full of so many things I love… dual narration, romance, getting to “check in” with characters I know and love from a previous book, all kinds of authentic characters and relationships, intense real life issues teens deal with, and so much more! All of these things worked together to engage me as a reader and get me deeply emotionally invested.

Oh man. Rev and Emma are dealing with some really, really serious things. Like, the kinds of things I am so thankful I’ve never had to go through. It was so hard to read about what they were going through and not be able to fix it for them. I kept wanting to scream, “Talk to a trusted adult!” But I know that’s not realistic. Not everyone has one in their lives and, even if they do, sometimes there are things that keep them from feeling comfortable talking to an adult. Don’t get me wrong, I 100% think both Rev and Emma needed to confide in an adult sooner. But what played out was totally realistic.

More Than We Can Tell was a stellar companion to Letters to the Lost and a new favorite even apart from it. Brigid Kemmerer writes such deeply emotional contemporary novels. Exactly my cup of tea!
