Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone...

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don't kill each other first.

My Thoughts:

It’s no secret that I am a total fangirl for Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy. Shadow and Bone just wowed me. I simply cannot say enough good things about it. It’s one of the books I recommend most. Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising were just as amazing. I’m so in love with this series I even collect all the Grisha goodies I can find!

As you can imagine, I freaked the heck out when I found out Leigh would be setting another series in the Grishaverse. More stories from Leigh and they’re set in a world I already know and love! Cue all the happy dancing!!!

Six of Crows was everything I hoped it’d be and more. I was thrilled to be back in the Grishaverse and even happier to see it expanded. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ravka! But getting to see more of Ketterdam, Fjerda, and everywhere in between was a treat. The worldbuilding is top notch.

And the characters! This is a pretty ambitious story in terms of narration. There are six main view points, but others scattered in as well. I was impressed with how incredible this was. I knew I was a fan of Bardugo’s storytelling from the Grisha trilogy, but Six of Crows still managed to wow me. I never had to stop to remember which character the chapter was focused on. Their voices were strong and distinct. And I loved every. single. one. Basically my favorite character was whichever one I was reading about at the moment. And the interplay between them! Amazing. (At this point this post would basically dissolve into excessive fangirling and perhaps give to much away. Just trust me. Bardugo excels at creating nuanced relationships of all kinds!)

Also, did I mention that this is the story of planning and executing a big con ? With rival street gangs and revenge and redemption and romance all mixed in? Because it totally is. And it’s epic.

Gah! I cannot say enough about my love for this book. Leigh Bardugo is a master storyteller. I’m totally in awe (and maybe a bit terrified) by her con plotting! I’m not entirely sure she isn’t secretly a criminal mastermind or lord of a street gang. She has that look about her. (I probably shouldn’t have said that. If I disappear you know who to investigate first!)

Do yourself a favor and check out Six of Crows ASAP.  But don’t blame me if you’re left dying for the next book!

Yayyyyy love your review! I actually started the re-read on audio because I DID love so many things but also my expectations were off. Not that it wasn’t great but it wasn’t the tone, etc that I was anticipating so I’m excited to re-read knowing exactly what to “expect”! 🙂

I LOVE EVERYTHING LEIGH BARDUGO! I was wowed by Six of Crows, I knew it was going to be great but I was nervous that since I loved The Grisha Trilogy so much that it wouldn’t compare but IT WAS AMAZING!

I think the characters really made this book. Multiple POVs often concern me because usually I like one or two main characters and I’m just bored through the other POVs but in Six of Crows I cared about everyone! Although I have a special place in my heart for Nina because I think she’s just awesome.

    Great review!
