Novel Cuisine Luncheon + Giveaway

December 19, 2013 Uncategorized 2

For the past three years the amazing Liza (twitter, blog) has planned and hosted a luncheon for Wisconsin and Illinois bloggers. All items served come from books (mostly YA) that she has read over the year. I’ve gone each year and it just keeps getting better and better! Here’s Liza’s recap of this year. She did a great job explaining and including pictures so I’ll just direct you there! I have a couple pics as well and then a giveaway!

The books that inspired the food and drink for the meal were displayed on the table. It was really fun to see what books Liza chose. There were many I hadn’t read! One of my favorite parts about the meal is the bookish discussion! We are a group of YA readers and I always leave with more books to add to my TBR pile! This year I brought a copy if the questions from Jamie’s End of Year Book Survey. It was great to hear what everyone loved from 2013 and what they couldn’t wait for in 2014.

Each year attendees bring any books they have that they’re willing to part with and we have a book swap. You can see some of the bounty here. This year we also collected books to give to a school that is starting a library. We donated over 75 books!

Also new this year, ARCs! On the right are ARCs of Elizabeth Eulberg’s Better Off Friends. Elizabeth is a Wisconsin girl and this book features all things Wisconsin! From the setting to the character names… it was wonderful. Honestly one of my favorite books I read this year! On the left are ARCs of What the Moon Said by Gayle Rosengren. Gayle attended the luncheon! I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet but I’ve heard amazing things. It’s been recommended to fans of books like Little House on the Prairie and Caddie Woodlawn. Count me in! I know I’ll be adding it to my middle school library.

And, lucky reader, you have a chance to win both Better Off Friends and What the Moon Said! Just use the rafflecopter below to enter! Also, make sure you check out Liza’s recap and enter her giveaway as well!
