About the Book: Where do you go when nowhere is safe?

Sixteen years after a deadly virus wiped out most of Earth’s population, the world is a perilous place. Eighteen-year-old Eve has never been beyond the heavily guarded perimeter of her school, where she and two hundred other orphaned girls have been promised a future as the teachers and artists of the New America. But the night before graduation, Eve learns the shocking truth about her school’s real purpose–and the horrifying fate that awaits her.

Fleeing the only home she’s ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Arden, her former rival from school, and Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Separated from men her whole life, Eve has been taught to fear them, but Caleb slowly wins her trust . . . and her heart. He promises to protect her, but when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.

In this epic new series, Anna Carey imagines a future that is both beautiful and terrifying. Readers will revel in Eve’s timeless story of forbidden love and extraordinary adventure.

My Thoughts: If you haven’t read this book, what are you waiting for?!?!? For real. I am so annoyed with myself for waiting so long! Thank goodness for audiobook sales! (That’s how I catch up on a lot of my “back reading.”)

I honestly don’t even know where to start with Eve. I enjoyed it so very much. The world, the characters, the unknown… it all worked for me.

In the beginning of the book Eve is very sheltered. She believes everything the women running her school tell her without question. When this belief is shattered Eve is lost (both literally and figuratively) and confused. The reader really gets to see Eve grow and become stronger as a character. I loved seeing this transformation. It’s not all smooth and pretty. Terrible things happen. Eve’s world is no longer the safe and sheltered place she started in. But she is stronger and she has the help of new friends. This brings me to Caleb. Oh how I loved him. Trust me, you want to meet this fictional boy!

Basically I could go on and on and on. While I am kicking myself for waiting so long to enter this story I am so pleased that all three books are out. Waiting a year after that ending would have been killer!

Don’t repeat my mistake. Pick this book up ASAP. Just make sure you have Once and Rise on hand!
Audiobook Notes: Great narration. Tavia Gilbert did a wonderful job setting the emotion. Pacing well done. Highly recommended.
