About the Book:

MadeForYouMade for You by Melissa Marr
Published by: HarperCollins
Publication date: September 16th 2014
Genres: Southern Gothic, Young Adult
Bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely books Melissa Marr’s first contemporary YA novel is a twisted southern gothic tale of obsession, romance, and murder. A killer is obsessed with Eva Tilling. Can she stop him, or will he claim her?

When Eva Tilling wakes up in the hospital, she’s confused—who in her sleepy little North Carolina town could have hit her with their car? And why? But before she can consider the question, she finds that she’s awoken with a strange new skill: the ability to foresee people’s deaths when they touch her. While she is recovering from the hit-and-run, Nate, an old flame, reappears, and the two must traverse their rocky past as they figure out how to use Eva’s power to keep her friends—and themselves—alive. But while Eva and Nate grow closer, the killer grows increasingly frantic in his attempt to get to Eva.

For the first time, New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr has applied her extraordinary talent to contemporary realism. Chilling twists, unrequited obsession, and high-stakes romance drive this Gothic, racy thriller—a story of small-town oppression and salvation. Melissa’s fans, and every YA reader, will find its wild ride enthralling.

About the Author:

Hmm, I’m never good at the bio bit. I used to teach college & bartend, now I write novels. I love to meet new people, to hear their Melissastories, to walk through new streets and see new vistas. I enjoy art in all its guises–graffiti, surrealist paintings, classic sculptures, tattoos, interesting buildings, Renoir, photography . . . Art & nature, they feed my soul & thus my muse.

My Thoughts:

I made the mistake of picking Made for You up at 9 p.m. to read a couple chapters before bed.  This was a mistake for two reasons.
1. I couldn’t put the book down!!! I started reading it and the next thing I knew it was 1 a.m. and I was turning the last page. The story just flew by!
2. Like I could sleep after reading such a creepy story!!!!! I mean, clearly there was now a serial killer outside my window.
So, while my timing for reading Made for You may not have been great, I certainly don’t regret it!
As I said, Made for You flew by! It was one of those reading experiences where I had no concept of time passing. It honestly felt like the blink of an eye. I was so caught up in the story. What great pacing and character development by Melissa Marr! I really liked the way the story switched perspectives between the characters. I think this contributed to the urgency I felt while reading. Especially when it came to the killer!
Speaking of the killer… yikes! Holy crazy obsessed stalker!!!!!  Get his perspective was totally disturbing (in the best possible way for the story!) I am such a baby when it comes to reading creepy things. I often want to put a book down because of it. However, I was so sucked into Made for You that the story overcame the creepy factor. I needed to know what happened next, regardless of whether or not I’d be able to sleep after!
Made for You by Melissa Marr is yet another example of wonderful storytelling and characters that will draw you in. It’s great for anyone looking for something to captive and creep them out!!!
