Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts. Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him--and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth. With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y'all beg for more.

My Thoughts:

I love Rachel Hawkins’ Hex Hall series (as you can tell from my review of Demonglass!) When I first heard about Rebel Belle I knew I had to read it! It did not disappoint!

My very favorite thing about Rachel Hawkins’ books is her humor! I just love it. I mean, look at that cover and the tagline! They totally fit the book. Clearly Rachel knows how to have fun! As I started this book I found myself smirking through the whole first chapter.

Harper is such a fun character to follow! She’s a Souther belle with charm to spare… just don’t get on her bad side! I loved getting to see the events unfold from her perspective. I especially loved Harper and David’s contentious relationship! To say that Harper is not a fan of David is quite the understatement. Their witty banter was so entertaining to read!

And then there’s the paranormal side of things! Prophecies and Paladins and learning how to kick butt and take names! These certainly weren’t things Harper ever thought would be a part of her life! Watching her try to adapt and fit these new aspects in with her debutante and Southern Belle lifestyle was pure entertainment!

If you’re looking for a read that is charming and witty Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins is the perfect fit!

Not too long ago I read Hex Hall, and it was so much fun! I did get an eARC of this one from Edelweiss, but I forgot about it. I wonder if I can still read it. I’ve been hearing good things. 🙂
