About the Book: Companion to Catching Jordan and Stealing Parker.

Kate has always been the good girl. Too good, according to some people at school—although they have no idea the guilty secret she carries. But this summer, everything is different…

This summer she’s a counselor at Cumberland Creek summer camp, and she wants to put the past behind her. This summer Matt is back as a counselor too. He’s the first guy she ever kissed, and he’s gone from a geeky songwriter who loved The Hardy Boys to a buff lifeguard who loves to flirt–with her.

Kate used to think the world was black and white, right and wrong. Turns out, life isn’t that easy…

My Thoughts: Continuing on my Miranda Kenneally book binge… Things I Can’t Forget! As soon as I finished Catching Jordan I went straight to amazon to grab this one. I just couldn’t wait to go back to Hundred Oaks. Plus, this one is a summer camp book! I love books set at camp. I blame my obsession on having never went myself 🙂

I’m really glad I read Stealing Parker before this one. It really helps to have the background story in this case! I understood Kate and her situation more thanks to knowing Parker’s story.

What to say about this book? It is so very thought provoking! Kate is at a point in her life where she is beginning to look at everything she was taught and thought she believed. Much of it she agrees with but there are aspects that have her questioning. She is just realizing that not everything is cut and dry. Sometimes there are gray areas. I really connected with this aspect of the story. I could empathize with the way Kate was feeling. I loved that, even while questioning some things, she was very firm on her boundaries. She was willing to rethink long held opinions but didn’t sacrifice the things she held true for herself. I think this is important for teens to see.

The supporting characters were really great as well. They may not all have agreed with Kate and her beliefs but they didn’t just ostracize her. (Well, most didn’t!) They included her and helped her to see things from a different point of view. They also accepted her and were there when she needed support. And Matt! So swoon worthy!

This is by far the most thought provoking book of Miranda Kenneally’s. Of course it still has the charm of the other Hundred Oaks books! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
