Top Ten Author Who Deserve More Recognition
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by

This topic was originally posted back in March of 2011 and I was so excited to write my list. And honestly, many of the authors remain the same. I did take a few off the list just to mix it up but I still think you should read their books! Also, I find this is harder and harder to write. There are some authors that are huge with librarians/ English teachers but get little blogger recognition (like Chris freaking Crutcher!) So I never know if the authors I’m mentioning are getting more attention than I realize. Either way. I love these authors and REALLY want you to read their books!!

Again, not in any order

1. Saundra Mitchell: Her words. They are just so pretty!! I love, love, love her writing style. Also, she writes some of the most seemingly effortless historical fiction. What do I mean by that? Basically she must do an insane amount of research and work incredibly hard to write a book set in the past but that modern day readers can read without being confused by language. AND, it still transports the reader back in time. So. Freaking. Impressive.

2. Rosemary Clement-Moore: Her book The Splendor Falls came out a few months before Beautiful Creatures and I think fans of one would like the other. The Splendor Falls had such a beautiful Southern gothic feel. I just fell in love with the story, the characters and the setting. It made me want more and more books with a similar feel!  It’s actually the reason I even read Beautiful Creatures. I was eagerly anticipating Texas Gothic the last time I did this post and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. I loved the blend of humor and creepiness!
3. Sarah Rees Brennan: I am such a SRB fangirl. Every time I see her at an event I make a bit of a fool of myself. I just love all her books. Her humor is exactly the kind I like to read. But I must warn you, she thrives in the tears and screams of frustration from her readers. No easy-peasy happily ever afters from this woman! Also, she loves to give spoilers. Don’t ask. Or do, if that’s your thing!
4. Elizabeth Knox: I’ve only read one book of her’s and it’s the first in a duet so I feel like a hypocrite posting this but I loved it so much and it seems like nobody else has read it! So, get thee to a library/bookstore/whatever and check out Dreamhunter and tell me what you think!

5. Megan Whalen Turner: Almost every fantasy author I’ve met has mentioned that they love her books. I randomly picked up The Thief of my middle school library shelf and decided to read it to see if I should discard it or get a new copy. I promptly ordered new copies of all the books in the series. Fantasy fans, you MUST read these books!

6. Elizabeth Eulberg: I’m not just saying this because she is a Wisconsin girl too! Her books are the perfect blend of smart and funny. I’ve loved every one of them! I give thanks to whoever sent me the Scholastic preview box way back when that had an ARC of Prom & Prejudice! She is an auto-buy author for me!

7. Sarah Beth Durst: Another excellent fantasy author that I want more people to read so we can talk about her books! I think her book Vessel is my favorite. I love the way she weaves the story together and the traditional storytelling feel.

8. Jennifer Echols: I am a huge Jennifer Echols fan. She is one of the top authors on my “I want to meet them” list! Most of my friends are fans as well. Still, I want MORE people to read her books because I just love them so darn much. I think that Such a Rush is my favorite. Or maybe Going to Far. Or who newest, Dirty Little Secret. Gah. I can’t choose!
9. Elizabeth Scott: I am amazed at what a variety of stories this woman comes up with! Her books don’t follow one certain mold. And she isn’t afraid of tackling tough subjects. She is basically amazing.
10. Nancy Werlin: I actually found this author because of a goodreads book club I took part in a number of years ago. We read Double Helix and I was really caught up in the story. I couldn’t wait to read more and more by the author! I think my favorite is Impossible (which I read before I started blogging!) Can’t wait to read the companion novel Unthinkable
