About the Book: From publisher: Dragons exist. They’re ferocious. And they’re smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these “Slayers” are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator’s daughter who didn’t sign up to save the world.

The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they will fall in love. But will they survive?

My Thoughts: First things first… the actual cover is way cooler than that image suggests. It’s a darker green and has a metallic type sheen to it. Very cool. Now that that is out of the way….
I enjoyed this book. It engaged me from the beginning. I mean modern day dragon slayers descended from knights? Sign me up!
The prologue does its job well. It draws you in and sets up the story. You can feel the terror of the person having the dream. It also establishes some of the history and basic information the reader needs to know to have a better understanding of what will come.
The main story takes place seventeen years after the prologue. It is told mainly from Tori’s perspective but we get glimpses in to other characters’ thoughts. As a reader I really liked this. Tori is learning everything so we learn with her. The other slayers have a bit more insight so we get that as well.
All in all I found this to be a fun read. It was fast paced and had some twists. I will say that I did anticipate most of them but that didn’t really diminish my enjoyment. It just made me feel smug when I was right 😉 A great read for fans of modern day fantasy stories and dragons in general!
