About the Book: Lenzi hears voices and has visions – gravestones, floods, a boy with steel gray eyes. Her boyfriend, Zak, can’t help, and everything keeps getting louder and more intense. Then Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, who reveals that she’s a reincarnated Speaker – someone who can talk to and help lost souls – and that he has been her Protector for centuries.

Now Lenzi must choose between her life with Zak and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. But time is running out: a malevolent spirit is out to destroy Lenzi, and he will kill her if she doesn’t make a decision soon. (goodreads)

My Thoughts: This book starts off running and doesn’t slow down. Seriously! The beginning had me hooked. I was interested in Lenzi and wanted to know more about her and her life. There is so much that she doesn’t even know! That made me want to figure her out even more. I felt invested.

The world of Speakers and Protectors that Mary Lindsey created kept me engaged. I found it to be refreshing and unique. I really enjoyed learning about how things work in their world and how it affects ours. Of course I also loved getting to know her characters more. The roles that they have played through the centuries are really being questioned for the first time. Add in a somewhat forbidden love/love triangle and you’ve created a tension that served the story well.

With a beautiful cover and captivating story this debut is sure to grab readers and not let them go until the final word. Then they’ll be screaming for more!
