Top Ten Books I’d Like to see Made Into Movies
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by
Honestly? I kind of just want to say “NONE!” here because the movies rarely live up to the books. Sooooo, we’re going to pretend that these movies would be epic and would totally maintain the spirit and integrity of the books ;) Also, Alex Pettyger WOULD NOT play in any of them. I have nothing against him personally or as an actor but I am SO TIRED of people casting him in EVERY SINGLE YA BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION. It’s as annoying as PEOPLE WHO OVER USE CAPS LOCK!!! Errr, yeah, sorry about that.

1. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare: I know we’re getting City of Bones but seriously? Victorian England? Steampunk? Awesomness. Think of all the sexy accents! Will! Jem! Henry! Well, maybe not Henry but you get my drift. (Poor Henry!)

2. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr: These were some of the first fantasy books that I got in to and I thank Ms. Marr for being instrumental in turning me on to the genre! Love, love, love these books! Also, I just want to drool over Seth :)

3. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han: I love a good summer romance movie! This could totally be up there with Dirty Dancing and Sixteen Candles.

4. Paper Towns by John Green: A mystery, a road trip, the world’s largest collection of Black Santas… how can you go wrong?

5. White Cat by Holly Black: I want to see this world on the big screen. The noir feel, the gloves, Cassel on the roof without his pants (you see where my priorities are?!?!) I should point out that The Godfather is one of my favorite movies/books so that might have something to do with my love of this series.

6. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen: Really this could be any of her novels that aren’t already movies. I love the way she builds the relationships and the interactions her characters have. Owen is my all time favorite of her characters which is why I picked Just Listen.

7. The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan: I always thought I couldn’t handle zombie books. Carrie Ryan proved me wrong. I’d like her to prove me wrong about zombie movies as well. I liked The Forest of Hands and Teeth but The Dead-Tossed Waves is my favorite of the three so I’d love to see that one as a movie.

8. Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan: I heart this book A LOT! The writing is so well done that I picture the scenes in my head. I would love it if everyone could see it.

9. The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell: This was another book where the language painted vivid pictures of what was going on. I would love to see a movie set in this time, place, and world. I love the fashion and the incredible attention to detail.

10. Graceling by Kristen Cashore: I read this book about the same time I read The Hunger Games. The two are forever linked in my mind because they were my Favorite reads of 2008. With The Hunger Games movie underway I can’t help but want to see this one too!

What about you? What books do you want to see as movies? Are there any books you NEVER want to be made into a movie? Let me know in the comments :)

I tossed back and forth whether I wanted to put Paper Towns on my list. I ended up not doing it because I knew so many others would. Even though I loved the book, I still can’t picture it as a movie – I don’t know why. Weird, huh?

#3 – Yes!!! This would be a perfect light, entertaining summer movie.

#4 – I haven’t read this one yet, but you’re the second person who put it on their list today, so I think I’m adding it to my to-read list.

#6 – I would be happy if any more of Sarah Dessen’s books were turned into movies! And I love Just Listen. It was the first S.D. book I read, and I was instantly hooked. Read all of them after that.

    Great list! Thanks for sharing!

The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Vespertine, and I’m not even finished with Clockwork Angel yet and I want that too. I agree with the Alex Pettyfer thing. He’s in just about every single YA adaption as of late. 0_0 It’s cliche!

I nearly put Just Listen on my list too! Im surprised they haven’t made films out of her books yet… And Clockwork Angel would make an awesome film! I love the Victorians :D

I totally agree about Paper Towns, Clockwork Angel, White Cat and Demon’s Lexicon. I would go see Vespertine and Graceling, but I think the others listed would translate amazingly (probably because of all of the action). Great list!

…I kind of hope they never actually get around to making the Ender’s Game movie. There are just way too many ways Hollywood could screw it up.

I think the Ugles series, Matched and Delirium should be made into movies!! Also The House of Night series and I agree with Sarah Dessen books and The Summer I Turned Pretty! <3
