About the Book: City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever.

Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

My Thoughts: First things first… I loved it. It’s a great addition to the series. Having said that, I don’t want to go in to too much detail or be spoilery so this is my very brief take on City of Fallen Angels

I just reread the summary for this book and I have to say… yes, those events happen and drive the plot but they are NOT what I think of when I think of this book. When I think back on my reading experience two things stick out to me (aside from Jace. Jace takes places 1-100 in the things that stuck out list.):

1. New Characters: I LOVED the new characters that Ms. Clare introduced in this book. Maureen (named after the ever fabulous Maureen Johnson) is like a breath of fresh air. I love me some snarky characters but it was nice to have a more innocent face too. And Kyle? All I have to say is yummy!!

2. Connections: The connections with previous books, the connections with the Infernal Devices series, the unknown connections that exist between the characters, the new connections that develop… I loved it all!

My only complaint? I want more! There is a killer cliff hanger ending!

Also… I had a giveaway for a copy of City of Fallen Angels and a very cool metal bookmark. The winner is….

Congrats Ashley! Thanks to everyone for entering!

Wasn’t it amazing? I think my favourite characters (besides Jace, of course) were Magnus and Alec. Kyle (which is what I will call him forever) was really awesome too. Thanks for the great review!
